About Zairah

My name is Zairah, and I am currently a sophomore studying Human Biology with a minor in Spanish at my dream school of USC. My life goal is to become a cardio-thoracic surgeon who uses their position in the hospital to help minorities and underrepresented communities. I am very passionate about helping people who look like and people who don't have anyone there to advocate for them. I've always been hard on myself and a perfectionist, and that didn't change when I got to college. My first year of college was a well-deserved reality check because I realized that I didn't really know what I was doing. I didn't know how to study, and I didn't really know what I liked or who I should surround myself with. After freshman year, I realized that my habits needed to change, not necessarily my work ethic. Because of the high expectations I have of myself, and because of everything my mother is giving up so I can be here, I knew I had to make changes. I started putting in 10x more work in my classes, studying way more, and getting way more involved. However, with the implementation of these new habits, I don't really have time for myself or things that I enjoy. Once I had my first panic attack, I finally acknowledged how much stress I am adding to my plate. This routine of doing work for hours with a max of 10 minutes of downtime and going to sleep at 2:00 am while waking up at 8:30 am was not good for my health. I needed to make a change that would stick, and that change is this website. Obviously, I am implementing other habits than just this website, lol, but this was the push I needed. A creative outlet to express myself without any intended audience. I thought of making a TikTok, but I prefer the idea of no audience. I don't want to perform or have anyone else in my space, so that's why I thought a website would be a great idea. I am so excited to make this space my own, and if there are any viewers out there, I am excited for you to see it!
